| Retained cleansings no longer an issue in bolused herd | ||||||||||
A spring-calving milk producer says bolusing his herd with Animax’s Tracesure Cu/I bolus gives him peace of mind that all the stock get their necessary levels of trace elements. |
“We were looking for a product that would give us peace of mind that would protect against difficulties at calving.’ ’Mr Millington says it is those difficulties affect fertility. |

He noticed an improvement in the first year of using Tracesure Cu/I with fewer cases of whites, retained cleansings and milk fever. |

John Millington, who runs a herd of 420 cows at Sandon, Staffordshire, started bolusing his cows two years ago when he began out-wintering on green crops. |
“Milk fever has always been a major issue and we have seen a lot less cases in the two seasons we have been using the bolus,’’ says Mr Millington. |

“We wanted to be sure that we were getting minerals into all the cows all of the time rather than giving them a bag of minerals that some may take and others may not,’’ he says. |
He says the biggest single benefit he has noticed since using Tracesure Cu/I is less retained cleansings. “Cows have been more eager to calve as a result of their better trace element status and there have been less difficult calvings due to cows being lazy.’’ |
