Whereas dairy cattle are handled frequently, the same cannot be said of the suckler cow. It is easier to bolus a dairy cow two months before calving as she’s being handled as part of the drying off regime. It is not so easy to bolus a suckler cow 2 months before calving, as she may be out grazing and difficult to catch. How do you therefore ensure enough supplementation of selenium, cobalt, iodine and copper, especially when at grass, to cover the increased demand at calving and conception?

Bolus each cow at turnout, and again at housing with tracesure Cu/I. These are the main periods when suckler cows are handled. This ensures up to 12 months supply of selenium, cobalt, iodine and copper, so it doesn’t matter when she calves in the calendar year, as she is covered for these vital trace elements over both calving and service periods.
