Landguard OP-A

Landguard OP-A for the treatment of diazinon sheep dip Your stewardship solution for protecting your land and water when using diazinon sheep dip
Landguard OP-A is a new soil and water treatment technology with proven ability to break down organophosphate pesticides, such as diazinon. Landguard acts on the pesticide molecule, quickly degrading the chemical.
Diazinon is a highly effective, broad spectrum and cost effective insecticide. The use of Landguard OP-A will minimise any adverse environmental impacts of its use and help to ensure the product is available in the future, which in turn will ensure your ability to effectively maintain your sheep.
This simple to use product helps to protect you, your land, your community and those downstream who use the water for drinking, recreation and their livelihood.
As a best management practice Landguard OP-A will help to rapidly reduce diazinon concentrations in used sheep dip to levels that do not have adverse impact on the environment. Independent trials have demonstrated that Landguard OP-A is capable of reducing the toxicity of diazinon sheep dip by over 200,000 times.
Landguard OP-A is formulated as a water soluble powder. The product is added to the sheep bath on completion of dipping, mixed for at least two minutes and left to stand for at least 3 hours.

Trial results

A Landguard OP-A trial was conducted by the Central Science Laboratory in York. Used sheep dip containing 42,830µg/L diazinon was treated with Landguard OP-A applied at a rate of 20g/100L.

Trials have consistently demonstrated that Landguard OP-A will reduce the concentration of diazinon in used sheep dip from approximately 100,000µg/L to approximately 1 µg/L in three hours and to non-detectable levels (<0.01 µg/L) within three days, thereby reducing the toxicity of the sheep dip by over 200,000 times.
Landguard OP-A should be applied at 10-20g/100L of used sheep dip. The following trial was conducted at Llanaelhaearn, Wales. The concentration of diazinon in the untreated sheep dip was 89,485µg/L.
